This page explains what data convertyaml (convertyaml.com) handles. The short version: the YAML you convert never leaves your browser.

The YAML you convert

The converter is JavaScript that runs in your browser tab. When you paste, type, open or drop a file, it is read and converted on your device. It is not sent to this site's server or to anyone else, and it isn't stored after you close the tab.

Files you open or drop are read with your browser's built-in file reader. They are never uploaded.

Share links

When you make a share link, your YAML is compressed and placed after the # in the link (for example #yaml=…). Browsers never send the part after # to a server, so creating or opening a share link doesn't upload your YAML. Anyone you give the link to can read the YAML in it, so only share links with people who should see the content.

Analytics

The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count page visits. It doesn't use cookies, doesn't track you across sites, and doesn't collect the content you convert. It records things like the page visited, the referring site, and the browser and country, in aggregate.

What's stored in your browser

The site saves two settings in your browser's local storage: your theme (light, dark or system) and your indent choice. Your YAML is never saved. You can clear these settings at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser.

Hosting

The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web server, Cloudflare processes standard request information, such as IP addresses, to deliver pages and protect against abuse. See Cloudflare's privacy policy.

Advertising

The site shows no ads today. If that changes, this section will explain how advertising works here, including any cookies it uses, before any ads appear.
